Archive note

A porcelain figurine of a veiled female saint or devotional figure, documented in Paris, 1952, exists only in this promotional photograph and a fragmentary exhibition catalog. The object—allegedly capable of audible weeping—vanished from a private collection before authentication. Collectors of lost religious artifacts and mid-century European design mysticism regard this as evidence of a suppressed strain of surrealist sacred art.
